The ramp was almost completed this evening, it just needs weight added to it to simulate the real thing. Also the back boards were made and are awaiting the hoops. IF ANYONE HAS A HOOP THEY COULD LET US  USE REMEMBER TO BRING IT IN.

Last years robot is in the the process of dropping the wheels to 4.5″ below the frame, so that we can try to clear the middle bump.

So today has been a very busy day;

The animation challenge has been released. The challenge is to help the Iikos, from last year’s challenge, fix our education system. This will be a very difficult challenge, especially since the judging is all done on a national level. But the upside is the due date is March 30th. Animation team will be hard at work for a long time.
The guys in the shop have been very productive today continuing work on the game pieces for the practice field. “Prototyping of the ball-mover-object” -Alex Manning, has started and is making some headway.
Spirit crew began designing team t-shirts and money jars that will be set out at local businesses. They will be working with the animation team on the storyboard starting soon.
Finally, in regards to tomorrow;
Lunch will be provided for everyone tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who is sending food & drinks so we don’t have to have everyone bring brown bag lunch or buy it.

Due to technical difficulties last night email was not sent. So this email will cover lat nights and tonights meetings(1/9 and 1/10).

On 1/9 meeting we discussed the design of the robot ( wheel types, size of frame, method of scoring, etc.) After much discussion the crowd came to a unanimous decision that shooting balls was too complicated, risky, and unconventional. In general, it was felt that dropping/funneling the balls into the hoops was the most efficient method. We also want to be able to be able to manipulate and balance on the platform. The words “chain reaction” were thrown around quite a bit. I personally am uncertain of exactly what that means in the context it was used, but according to my sources it has to do with feeding the balls through the robot. There was some time for tool certification towards the end, which a handful of people took advantage of. Overall, a successful meeting.

Tonight 1/10 last nights key points we reiderated and deadlines, along with the decision to build a seond robot were discuseed. Hopefully the field will be fabricated by the end of the week.

Reminder, a)*keep trying to sell the sea dogs tickets
                         b)*Willows and Uno’s night are right around the corner, be sure to spread the word
